SDM University celebrated World Environment Day on June 5^th 2023 in association with NSS Unit at SDM Dental College Campus. The Theme for this year’s Environment Day is “Solution to Plastic Pollution”. 

The following dignitaries inaugurated World Environmental Day by lighting the Lamp.

Dr MC Tapashetti, the Chief Guest planted the sapling and demonstrated how to plant the sampling and protect it in a public place.  He addressed the faculty, Non-Teaching staff and students of SDM University and told that:

• Everyone should plant a sapling before they celebrate their birthday every year in a public place or their school and every week they should pour water to protect it.
• We all should use cloth bags and Say No to Plastics
• Dr Tapashetti is the Environmentalist who planted almost 2 Lakhs plants in his lifetime
• He is the one who created the Nrupathunga Betta Green
• He advised to create water ponds around us to preserve the clean water
• He has created 10,000 water pits in the Nrupathunga Betta to protect it
• He said he has planted full of Baniyan Plants in the Betta which has got the Life of 1000 years; so think before you cut a Baniyan Tree.
• He reminded of Kolkatta has a single Baniyan Tree  which has spread over in 3 and a half acres of land
• Trees are not only gives shades but also gives the Oxygen to us and fruits to Birds
• It is the prime duty to protect the mother earth given by our ancestors

University senior Executives, Heads of the Institutions, Heads of the Departments of Dental College Non-Teaching Staff and students are participated in a big number.
