An Orientation Workshop on Anti-Ragging for the 1st Year BDS (2025–26 Batch) was held on 11 February 2026 at SDM College of Dental Sciences & Hospital.

The session was graced by Dr. Shiva Sharan Shetty, Member, Dental Council of India, New Delhi, as the Chief Guest, along with members of the Anti-Ragging Committee, Flying Squad, welfare officers, wardens, faculty, and Mr. Shivaji Salunke, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Vidyagiri Police Station, Dharwad.

The programme began with the traditional lamp lighting.
Dr. Harikesh Rao, Vice Principal, welcomed the gathering and emphasized that ragging violates dignity and human values.
Dr. Mahantesh Yeli, Vice Principal & Nodal Officer for Anti-Ragging, presented the institutional measures taken to ensure a ragging-free environment.
Dr. Kiran Kumar, Professor & Student Welfare Officer, introduced the Chief Guest.

Dr. Shiva Sharan Shetty highlighted the initiatives of the Dental Council of India to prevent ragging and advised students to stay confident, speak up, and maintain mutual respect.
Dr. Balaram Naik, Principal, addressed the students on the importance of the 5 Ps—Planning, Preparing, Passion, Perseverance, and Patience.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Zeba Afroz, Master of Ceremony, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Kruthika Guttal, followed by the National Anthem.
