The Department of Public Health Dentistry, has conducted an Oral health education and Oral Cancer screening camp at Primary health centre, Begur village, Kalaghatagi Taluk, Dharwad District on 23.8.2022.

This camp was organised in collaboration with Indian Cancer Society, Bangalore and Local organizer Dandin Trust. The team was accompanied by team from SDM Medical College for breast and cervical cancer screening.

The Dental team consisted of the faculty Dr. Ravi Shirahatti, one Post-graduate student Dr. Prithvi Yermal and two-house surgeons (Dr.) Aishwarya Karnik and (Dr.) Prajwal from the department of Public Health Dentistry.

A total of 71 patients were screened for oral cancer. 0ne case of leukoplakia and one case of leukoplakia with erythroplakia has been detected and referred to our hospital.
