Conduct of Classroom Contact Programme of Fellowship in Forensic Odontology

The fifth batch of the Fellowship in Forensic Odontology offered by SDM University, Dharwad, successfully completed its Classroom Contact Programme from 2nd to 7th February 2026 at SDM College of Dental Sciences & Hospital.

The intensive classroom sessions provided participants with advanced training in key areas of forensic odontology, including dental age estimation, bite mark investigation, forensic dental anthropology, and comparative dental identification. The programme concluded with a comprehensive assessment comprising multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and case-based analyses to evaluate participants’ understanding and application of forensic principles.

The enrolled dentists were formally welcomed by Dr. Balaram Naik, Principal, SDM College of Dental Sciences & Hospital, in the presence of Dr. Lekha K. P. and Dr. Harikesh Rao, Vice Principals of the institution.

The classroom contact programme followed six months of structured online learning that included lectures, subject-based discussions, and interactive sessions. Participants will continue their academic engagement through home assignments and online sessions conducted by distinguished international guest faculty.

The fellowship programme is led by Dr. Ashith B. Acharya, Professor and Head, Department of Forensic Odontology, who serves as the principal faculty and mentor for the course.

The programme continues to strengthen professional expertise in forensic odontology and contributes significantly to the development of skilled forensic dental professionals in India
