The Department of Periodontics, SDM College of Dental Sciences & Hospital celebrated the Oral Hygiene Day on 1^st August, 2022 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Govinda B Shankwalkar, the founder of Indian Society of Periodontology with the theme of “Gum Care for Tooth Care”. Oral Health is very important for the Human body. The Department of Periodontics has given lot of awareness program to prevent the Oral Health problems and also conducted many activities like Slogan Writing, Drawing Competition, Essay Competition and Skit etc.

Dr. Niranjan Kumar, Vice Chancellor was the Chief Guest, Dr. S K Joshi, Pro Vice Chancellor, Shri Saketh Shetty, Director Administration, Dr. Balaram Naik, Principal, SDM Dental College, Dr. Lekha P and Dr, Anand Tavargeri, Vice Principals of SDM Dental College, Dr. Swathi Setty, HoD of Periodontics presented during the program and inaugurated by lighting the lamp.

Dr. Niranjan Kumar in his speech told that –

• Everyone should know the importance of Oral Hygiene.
• To prevent the Oral Health better care of the Oral Hygiene.
• Oral Health Awareness should start from the villages.
• For a healthy smile, we should all practice good oral Hygiene every day.

The students from Periodontics presented a small skit about the Oral Hygiene. Dr. Swathi Setty, welcomed the Guests and gave a brief update about the activities conducted by the department. Dr. Shiphalika conducted the program. Dr. Mihir Kulkarni invoked the blessings of the almighty God. Dr. Jyosthna proposed the Vote of thanks.
