Awareness Programs to mark the importance of “World No-Tobacco Day”

Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology SDMCDSH conducted various awareness programs to mark the importance of “World No Tobacco Day” which is observed worldwide on the 31st of May every year. Amongst the various activities conducted.

25th May 2023, an Oral screening camp was organised at JSS College, Dharwad for 300 students and a guest lecture was delivered on the ill effects of tobacco by Dr. Kruthika S. Guttal.

 

26th May 2023, a guest lecture for undergraduates to address the challenges to counsel patients with tobacco addiction by Dr. Rajeshwari Annigeri and Dr. Swamy MCL.

 

30th May 2023 radio talks were given by Dr. Shantala in KLE Dwani on the topic “We want food, not tobacco” and Dr. Vijaylaxmi on All India Radio, Dharwad on the topic “Tobacco and Oral health”.

 

Same day awareness skit was enacted by students on the college premises to create awareness among patients.

 

Various competitions were held in connection with no tobacco week which includes a slogan competition for undergraduates and postgraduates and collage competition for undergraduates.

 

31st May 2023 valedictory ceremony was held which was graced by Hon’ble Chancellor Pujyashri Shri D. Veerendra Heggade who emphasised various initiatives which can be taken by health care providers to curb the tobacco menace.
