Keynote Lecture by Dr. Ashith Acharya

We are proud to share that Dr. Ashith Acharya, Professor & HOD, Department of Forensic Odontology, delivered a keynote lecture titled ‘Case Examples of Bite Mark Analyses in India’ at the 21st National Conference of the Indian Association of Forensic Odontology, held at Tagore Dental College, Chennai, on 21st September 2024.

While bite mark analysis is not new in India, its application in forensic investigations to link suspected criminals to crimes has gained prominence in recent years. Dr. Acharya’s 45-minute lecture highlighted three diverse bite mark cases referred to Dharwad in the past 12 years—one from Kodagu, one from Badami, and another from Kerala. He discussed the challenges faced and the procedures followed in these cases, engaging a packed audience of over 400 registered delegates.

The presentation was well received, followed by an extended Q&A session.
