Dr. Ashith B. Acharya, Professor and Head of Forensic Odontology at SDM College of Dental Sciences and Hospital (SDMCDSH), has once again earned a place in the prestigious top 2% of highly cited forensic researchers worldwide, according to the latest rankings published by Elsevier and Stanford University, USA, on 16th September 2024. This year, Dr. Acharya has achieved a remarkable milestone, ranking 58th globally out of 14,394 forensic researchers.

He is one of only 12 forensic researchers from India to feature in the top 2%, and among just 13 forensic dentists worldwide. Dr. Acharya’s continuous contributions have elevated his status as a leading authority in forensic sciences, both in India and internationally.

In recognition of this outstanding achievement, Dr. Acharya was felicitated by the Principal of SDMCDSH, Prof. Balaram Naik, at a special ceremony.

About the Global Top 2% Researcher List The global top 2% list is an annual ranking created since 2019, using SCOPUS-based publication metrics. The list identifies top-cited scientists across various subjects and specialities. Dr. Acharya has been consistently ranked in the “Legal and Forensic Medicine” category for five consecutive years, making significant contributions to the field of forensic science, which includes forensic medicine, odontology, anthropology, and more.
