Anti-Ragging Week Observance

Ragging can have devastating mental and physical consequences on students and has claimed many lives. SDM College of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Dharwad, strictly upholds a zero-tolerance policy toward ragging, ensuring a ragging-free campus.

The SDM College of Dental Sciences & Hospital, a Constituent Unit of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University, observed Anti-Ragging Day on 12th August 2024, followed by Anti-Ragging Week from 12th to 18th August 2024. Various competitions, including a Slogan Writing and Essay Writing competition on the theme “SAY NO TO RAGGING,” were organized for students. A total of 20 students participated.

The Valedictory Function was held on 29th August 2024. The Principal, SDMCDSH, Dr. Balaram D Naik, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of students’ holistic development. He elaborated on the various measures taken by the Dental Council of India (DCI) to prevent ragging and reaffirmed that SDM College is a zero-ragging campus with strict anti-ragging policies in place.

The winners of the competitions were announced by Dr. Mahantesh M Yeli, Professor and Nodal Officer for Anti-Ragging Monitoring.

Competition Winners:

  • Slogan Writing:
    1st Prize: Miss. Shruthi Shrikar Shenoy (Intern)
    Winning Slogan:
    “Ragging shatters, Respect matters – Let’s build a world that flatters. Stand tall, End ragging for all.”
  • Essay Writing (Topic: “SAY NO TO RAGGING”):
    1st Prize: Dr. Nireeksha S, II MDS
    2nd Prize: Dr. Shravya S, I MDS

Certificates were awarded to the prize winners in recognition of their efforts.
