Library Services
In-House Reading
In-house reading service is available to all library users. Separate reading halls for undergraduates, PGs and faculty members comprising of 350 seats have been provided.
Home Lending
Teaching faculty and students are entitled for home lending. The service is subject to lending policy of the library.
OPAC
Easylib library management software is being used for library operations and bibliographical control. Bibliographic details of the print and other resources available in the library are computerized and easily accessible online through Intranet. OPAC search is provided in the library premises as well as in academic departments. A separate computer is provided near the main counter of the library for the purpose of catalogue search.
User Education
New users are educated regarding Central Library’s resources, facilities and services through orientation. Library also publishes a ‘User Guide’ that provides all the details.
Current Awareness
Following practices are implemented by the library to create awareness among the users with regard to new resources available:
- Display of new arrivals
- Display of list of new arrivals on library’s notice board
- Circulating of the list of new arrivals in various subjects to the departments concerned Through e-mail
Computer & Internet
The Information Centre of the Library is equipped with 25 computers and other accessories meant for library users. The computers connected with 200 mbps band width Internet connectivity. The facility enables the users to prepare academic materials and access electronic resources. Users must respect rules applicable to Computer and Internet service.
Self-Search Training & Mediated Search
Library holds regular self-search training to help postgraduate students and new faculty members. It also runs mediated searches on request from the users.
Document Delivery
Central Library is a member of DELNET. The journal publications required by the users which are not available in library’s collection are arranged either from DELNET or libraries of other medical colleges in the region.
Printing & Photocopying
Printing and photocopying facility is provided in the library at Re.1.00 per exposure. The facility is available from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. on working days and from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on holidays. Photocopying service is strictly subject to copyright laws. Photocopying of only one chapter in case of a book or one article in case of a journal issue is permitted under the copyright law.
