SDM UTSAV 2012 EVENT REPORT

With the guidance of the President and approval of Shri Shreyas Kumar we successfully conducted the SDMCDS Utsav 2012. Any event of this magnitude to be successful needs meticulous planning and timely execution.
The various committee chairmen’s, staff and student left no stone unturned in the preparations for the Utsav.
After the formation of the various committees on 22nd August 2012 there were approximately 37 (minutes recorded) Core committee + Chairmen’s meetings. Apart from these numerous meetings were conducted by individual committees.
The program schedule was finalised and was as follows:
A total of 1000 VVIP, 4000 VIP invitation cards were printed to be distributed amongst the distinguished personalities and officials. Emails were sent to all students, parents and alumni members. The guests of Honours’ were specially invited by our Principal. All the sister Institutions were given Invitation posters to be displayed on their notice board.
The public attendance for both the days was the hard work of the publicity committee. The 2 hoardings in Hubli and Dharwad, 15 banners in the sister Institutions, 15 banners on our buses, 45 banners on the front/back of local Bendre buses, and seven daily newspapers advertised the event for two weeks and All India Radio advertised for one week. Also 2 lakh pamphlets were distributed through SKRDRP. A 12 minute street play was prepared by our college students which were played in 13 locations in front of a total of 6000 individuals.
Ghanahoma was performed on 29th Nov 2012 in the college building. The entire two day event was conducted as per plan. We started with the inauguration by Poojya Swamiji of Moorsavirmath. The inauguration was followed by teachers training program in the auditorium and scientific exhibition in front of the college building. The teachers training program was conducted for 600 teachers in our auditorium.
Every individual who attended the event was given a welcome drink prepared by the Dharmasthala group headed by Shri Shettigar. The drink was a wonderful gesture appreciated by one and all.
 
The Scientific and exhibition committee did a splendid work as the put up 52 stalls in total. The best stall prize was bagged by Department of Pedodontics and the second place was awarded to Department of Community Dentistry. A total of 10000 individuals attend the 2 day exhibition.
The cultural extravaganza was the highlight of the entire event. On 30th Nov we had a gathering of approximately 25000 people to savour the music and dance by SDMCET students, dance programmes by SDM Medical college students, Fusion dance by Isha Shravani and the talented Spic Macay children.
The second day event was attended by 35000 people who enjoyed the performance eastern and western dance and fashion show by the SDMCDS students. Vilas Naik mesmerized the crowd with his paintings.
At this occasion SDM felicitated it two most trusted and dedicated members Dr N. Vajra Kumar and Dr C. Bhasker Rao. This was followed by a two hour non-stop musical performance by Kailesh Kher.
The entire college campus was decorated with umbrellas and lights. The stage was a highlight with 7 LED’s. The entire venue was well organised for the VVIP, Vip, Staff, Teaching, Students and general public. A total of 10000 chairs were arranged for seating and the rest of the area was left for general public to stand and watch the cultural show.
The food court had 9 food stalls and every one appreciated the food delivered at these stalls. They were convenient and close to the venue hence every individual enjoyed the delicacies od Hubli-Dharwad. The VIP food area was in our Old mess building and that too was managed completely to the satisfaction of the President’s family members. The hospitality for the artists was managed by the college staff, event manager and also the Hospitality partner hotel Aditya Mayur.
The funds collected as sponsorship has crossed 125000 as on date.
The 154 volunteers were manning the entire event for the two days. No untoward incident was reported what so ever. This only reflects the dedication of all the staff and students in conducting the SDMCDS 2012 Utsav.
